This long-established shop carries on the Kamakurabori carving tradition. This structure was built in 1940 as the workshop and residence of a Kamakurabori carver.
The exterior has a stately design that mixes castle and temple styles. This traditional design, combined with a modern glass show window supported by a teppei-seki (andesite) stone wall, exudes a unique charm.
Hakujitsudo is a valuable surviving example of a pre-war Kamakurabori carving workshop and residence with few modifications made to the original construction.
